FAQ #15
- I noticed a noise problem with my brake. How can I solve it?
The first thing to be remarked, is if we hear the noise during the braking or during the riding but without the brake application.
- We hear the noise during the braking. There could be four different causes:
- possible contamination of rotor and pads from external materials, such us oils used to lubrificate the parts. Please clean the disc and substitute the pads.
- excessive use of pads, and this can also damage the rotor. The only solution is to substitute rotor and pads.
- if caliper and adapter are incorrectly tighten. Please try to correctly tighten them both.
- resonance between brake and frame. We can only suggest to change the pads compound to reduce or eliminate the noise.
- We perceive the noise continously, not only during the brake application. There could be foour causes:
- the caliper is uncorrectly centered on the rotor. Please try to center it by untighten a little bit the caliper’s screws so that the caliper can move a little. Keep the lever stopped and tight again the caliper’s screws.
- the pads’s spring can be broken or become slack. Please substitute them.
- the rotor can be deformed or not straight (because of an accident, or a wrong assembly). Substitute the rotor.
- wrong alignment of the rotor inside the caliper, caused by different components of the bike not related to the brake system. Need to eliminate/substitute the wrong component.
